Ebola-infected surgeon dies in Omaha

 

Martin Salia, MD, a surgeon who contracted Ebola while working in Sierra Leone, died on Monday in a biocontainment center in Omaha, reports The New York Times.

“We used the maximum amount of supportive care and every advanced technique available in an effort to save his life,” said Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, chancellor of the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Salia had previously tested negative for the virus, according to the article.
