FTC’s Ramirez: Protect health information on devices

 

Federal Trade Commission Chair Edith Ramirez is calling on IT companies that manufacture medical devices to put the necessary safeguards in place to protect patient data, according to MEDCITY News.

In particular she expressed some of the FTC’s concerns about IoT: “ubiquitous data collection; the potential for unexpected uses of consumer data that could have adverse consequences; and heightened security risks,” according to the story.
