The former CEO of health insurance provider Anthem, Joseph Swedish, has started a private equity firm as a co-founder, Axios reported.
Swedish stepped down as CEO of Anthem in 2017 after four years in the position. The role was taken over by Gail Boudreaux, who was formerly the CEO of UnitedHealthcare.
The emergence of the firm, Concord Health Partners, underscores the growing influx of private equity funding into the healthcare space. The firm invests in expansion-stage companies with value-add opportunities in the healthcare industry.
