SCAN HEALTH PLAN APPOINTS ADRIENNE MORRELL TO SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF PUBLIC, GOVERNMENT AND COMMUNITY AFFAIRS

LONG BEACH, Calif.—Sept. 26, 2018—SCAN Health Plan, a leading senior-focused organization with the mission of keeping seniors healthy and independent, today announced Adrienne Morrell as its senior vice president of public, government and community affairs. In her new role, Morrell will work to reinforce SCAN’s government and community relations, while working side-by-side with healthcare policymakers and trade associations to develop and advocate for legislation that positively impacts the livelihood, health and independence of the nation’s seniors.

“More and more seniors are choosing Medicare Advantage plans and SCAN’s long history and commitment to serving seniors, especially those with multiple chronic conditions and the dual eligible population is particularly exciting to me,” said Adrienne Morrell, newly-appointed SVP of public, government and community affairs for SCAN Health Plan. “As the Medicare Advantage program has gained bipartisan support in Congress, I welcome the opportunity to build upon SCAN’s 40-year legacy to ensure we continue to advocate for programs and resources that improve the quality of life for seniors.”

Previously, Morrell served as the executive vice president of federal and external affairs at America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), overseeing the company’s advocacy, government affairs and public policy activities. Before that, she spent over a decade at Health Net, Inc. as the vice president for government relations. Earlier experience includes positions in the legislative offices of Senator Olympia Snowe (Maine) and Congressman Harris Fawell (Illinois).

Morrell will work towards building SCAN Health Plan’s existing reach and reputation in Washington D.C., Sacramento and Long Beach, Calif.

“SCAN is recognized for its dedication to serving seniors and their caregivers, and we welcome recent changes in policy and regulations that support Medicare Advantage and underscore our mission. But there is still more to be done,” says SCAN Health Plan CEO Chris Wing. “Adrienne has a wealth of experience in healthcare policy and a personal commitment to our mission and vision. We look forward to seeing her continue her work with industry leaders and legislators to advocate for seniors’ health and independence.”

Morrell is based in Washington, D.C. Her first day is September 26.
