Take these steps in 2016 to attain leadership greatness for a lifetime

If you want to lead people, make sure you’re thinking big on their behalf—and taking them toward an objective that’s both reachable and worth their while.

So advises Bill Murphy Jr., a contributing writer at Inc. magazine. He has compiled his most-read posts on leadership from 2015 to offer 12 quick and simple ways to become a great leader in 2016.

Examples:

Forget about titles and pedigrees: “Don’t get hung up on what other people’s job titles are, or what schools or previous employers they came from. Watch the results people achieve, instead.”

Be open and transparent: “A great leader understands that in a majority of cases, people who hoard information do so because they’re weak and insecure. Give others the tools they need to be successful.”

Be courageous: “You don't have to be fearless; far from it. Everybody is afraid, even of greatness. The test here is whether you can control your fears and act anyway.”
