Trump worries about healthcare poll, regrets enacting vaping restrictions

HHS Secretary Alex Azar took some heat from President Trump after a recent poll showed Democrats leading when it came to the issue of healthcare.

The poll revealed voters trusted Democrats more than Republicans about healthcare, and the finding has been seen before. Upon being briefed on the poll, Trump called Azar to scold him and urge him to “hurry up” the administration’s drug price plan to import medications from Canada and lower prices, The Washington Post reported. HHS issued its proposed rule for the drug importation plan at the end of 2019. Hundreds of drugs also shot up in price at the start of 2020.

In addition, Trump “complained that he should have never taken on vaping as a political issue,” The Post reported. The Trump administration announced at the start of the year it will prohibit the sale of some flavored e-cigarette products following an outbreak of lung illnesses related to vaping. Reportedly, the president wishes he had left the issue to the FDA.
