Apple hires prominent cardiologist

Apple has hired a prominent cardiologist, David Tsay, MD, from Columbia University Medical Center, CNBC reported. Tsay is the latest cardiologist to join Apple, which is quickly ramping up its interests in the healthcare space.

Last year, the company hired another cardiologist, Alexis Beatty. Amazon also hired a cardiologist in the last year, Maulik Majmundar, MD, from Massachusetts General.

The addition to of another cardiologist signals Apple’s increasing business in heart health. Its Apple Watch technology can track wearers, monitor heart rates and even perform an EKG exam.

“Adding more doctors to its ranks suggests that the company is thinking seriously about how to communicate with, as well as form alliances, within the medical sector,” CNBC reported.
